Back in the spring of 2004 we were up visiting Marie and Gary in Alaska and had started talking about where they would retire. Out of the blue I suggested that maybe we find a piece of property and we build two home on it, and so the adventure began.
Marie had actually found the property looking at ads from Alaska. We ruled it out as being two expensive. Gary found 10 acres in rural Buxton and we went down to check it out and on the way back came across the property that Marie and found and fell in love with it.
We decided to buy the property and start this adventure. Originally it was thought that Gary and Marie would bring in a house, but we saw the barn and decided that we would convert the barn into our home and they would take the house.
Financing, selling our house, retirement, converting a barn into a home and here we are more than a decade later in BARN JOY!
I had kept a web site up on the process of going from a barn to a home but lost the site. So this is an attempt to recreate a web site of the process for everyone to BARN JOY!
